Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated:
The short version
Some links on VitalEdgeFit are affiliate links. This means we may earn a small commission if you click a link and make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programmes. Our editorial ratings and recommendations are never influenced by these relationships.
What Is an Affiliate Link?
An affiliate link is a specially tracked URL that tells a retailer you arrived at their site from VitalEdgeFit. If you then make a purchase, we receive a percentage of the sale as a commission. The price you pay is identical, you are not charged more because of the affiliate tracking.
This is a standard, FTC-regulated practice across the publishing industry and is one of the primary ways independent content sites like this one generate revenue to cover research, hosting, and operating costs.
Our Affiliate Programmes
VitalEdgeFit currently participates in the following affiliate programmes:
- Amazon Associates, as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying
purchases made through links to Amazon.com. Our Associate tracking ID is
vitaledgefit-20. - Other networks, we may occasionally include links from other affiliate networks (e.g. ShareASale, Impact, Commission Junction). Where this is the case, a disclosure note appears at the top of the relevant article or review.
How to Identify Affiliate Links
Affiliate links are identified in one or more of the following ways:
- A disclosure banner or note at the top of the article or review
- The
rel="nofollow sponsored"attribute on the link (visible in page source) - The destination URL, Amazon affiliate links include
?tag=vitaledgefit-20
If you are ever unsure whether a link is an affiliate link, you are welcome to contact us and we will clarify.
How Affiliate Relationships Affect Our Content
They don't. Our ratings, recommendations, and written assessments are determined entirely by our research and testing, not by whether we have an affiliate relationship with a brand or retailer.
Specifically:
- We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable reviews or editorial mentions.
- We do not accept free products in exchange for positive coverage. If a product is sent to us for review, we disclose this and our rating is unaffected.
- Amazon's commission rate is the same regardless of which product we recommend, so there is no financial incentive to recommend one product over another.
- We will link to a non-affiliate URL (e.g. a brand's own site) if that is a better option for the reader.
- Negative or neutral verdicts are published even when affiliate links are present.
Our Commitment to Readers
Our goal is to be the resource we wish had existed when we started our own fitness journey, one that gives honest, evidence-based guidance regardless of commercial considerations. If we ever feel that affiliate relationships are creating a conflict of interest we cannot manage, we will remove the links before we compromise the content.
If you believe we have failed this commitment in any article or review, please tell us at [email protected]. We take these concerns seriously.
